Independent Montessori · Chantilly, VA · Since 1997
A morning here explains everything.
Real Montessori for children 18 months to 12 years. Trained guides, a 3:1 toddler ratio, and 29 years of Chantilly families who stayed.
Programs
One school, from first steps to age 12.
Full three-year cycles at every level, so children build on the same foundation instead of starting over.
Toddler

The Montessori Method
Not a trend. A hundred years of evidence.
Montessori classrooms look quiet because children are concentrating, and they concentrate because the work is real. Materials move from concrete to abstract, guides observe before they intervene, and children keep ownership of their own progress.
- Independence you can watch develop, week by week
- Deep concentration protected by an uninterrupted work cycle
- Reading, writing, & mathematics through the hands first
- Mixed-age classrooms where mentorship runs both directions
The Prepared Environment
The materials do the teaching.
Every material on the shelf isolates one idea and invites a child to discover it by hand. This is a small part of what a child works with, in the order they meet it.

Why MSOFx
The school other schools are compared against.
Chantilly has no shortage of new Montessori franchises. We opened in 1997, and many of our first students are now parents themselves. When a school keeps its guides, its families, and its standards for 29 years, you can feel it the moment you walk in.
- Independent and locally owned, not a national chain
- 3:1 toddler ratio, among the lowest in Fairfax County
- Full three-year cycles taught the way Montessori intended
- One campus, one community, on Lees Corner Road in Chantilly
A Day in the Life
What a Tuesday actually looks like.
Arrival at their own pace, a long uninterrupted work cycle, lunch, the garden, and home. No bells breaking the morning in half.
Families
Parents say it better than we can.
We toured five schools. This was the only one where the children did not look up when we walked in. They were that absorbed.
Our daughter started at 20 months barely speaking. By spring she was setting the snack table and narrating every step.
The kindergarten year sealed it. She walked into first grade reading chapter books and, more importantly, loving school.
